Word takes place over three days at the charming and historic King's College Campus of the University of Aberdeen and at venues throughout the city. More than 6,000 visitors come to meet around 50 authors in a packed weekend of readings, lectures, debates, music, art exhibitions, and film screenings. Added to this is a Festival of Gaelic and a special programme for schools and children. Gaelic, Imagination and Story Tents occupy the King's Lawn, and lectures are given in a state-of-the-art university auditorium.

Old Aberdeen, 1 mile north of the city centre. Other venues include The Lemon Tree, West North street, Aberdeen Arts Centre, Kings street

Bus: Buses 1,2,15,19 from city centre to Old Aberdeen.
