Promoting a wonderful community spirit, the Spitalfields Festival includes a great programme of musical performances, informative talks, historic walks and educational initiatives. The events take place in numerous venues around this historically fascinating district, including the renovated Christ Church Spitalfields, which is a great venue to hear music. There are afternoon and evening performances and visitors can also blow off a few cobwebs on a number of walks taking in the historic sights that characterise the area. Flanked by the prosperous City of London to the west and one of the most deprived boroughs in the country to the east, Spitalfields is rich in history and positively buzzes with creative energy, which is reflected with this lively event. There is also a smaller Spitalfields Winter Festival which takes place in December.
