Madrid's Teatro Real, otherwise known as 'The Opera', runs an annual Opera, Concert and Ballet Season, in addition to staging classical music performances throughout the year. Built in the mid-19th century, it was restored at great cost in 1998 and now stands as one of the city's finest performance venues. Some highlights from past programmes have included La Boheme, the English National Ballet and The Conquest of Granada.
