Maspalomas Carnival,

Maspalomas, Spain

01 Mar 2010 - 31 Mar 2010 Date to be confirmed

The southern town of Maspalomas and its resort, Playa del Ingles, are the setting for a gay and lesbian carnival in May. Events include the Carnival Queen Competition, Junior Carnival Queen Competition, Drag Queen Competition, Carnival Parade and Burial of the Sardine. This last event still bears traces of Spanish festive tradition but overall, carnival is one big party that culminates in a grand parade through the streets. Events take place all over the resort but at night the carnival fun focuses on the Yumbo Shopping Centre in Playa del Ingles, where there are many gay clubs and bars.
