Established in 1956, the 'Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Cordoba' is the principal competition of its type in Spain, showcasing flamenco singers in the purest traditional style of 'Cante Jondo'. It has helped to advance the artistic reputation and interpretation of this distinctive and colourful genre. There are prizes for song, dance and guitar categories and the best artistes in Spain compete for the coveted awards.
