Yeats International Summer School ,

Sligo, Ireland

01 Jul 2010 - 31 Aug 2010 Date to be confirmed

Each summer, approximately 150 students from all over the world travel to Sligo to attend the prestigious Yeats International Summer School. It is not affiliated to any particular university, but lectures and seminars during the two-week course explore the myths and influences of WB Yeats' work in an academic environment. The popular course attracts a mix of graduates, professors, professionals and poetry enthusiasts who all share a desire to see the area that inspired the poet and learn more about his work. Although Yeats himself was born in Dublin, the celebrated poet's mother was from Sligo and it was here that he spent much of his childhood and acquired a love of the region, which is evident in much of his work.
