Celtic Connections,

Glasgow, United Kingdom

01 Jan 2010 - 03 Mar 2010 Date to be confirmed

A celebration of traditional and contemporary Celtic music, this Glasgow event is the biggest of its kind and represents not just Scottish culture but that of Ireland, Wales and Brittany - and the wider world as well. Traditional Scottish music is to the fore though, among some 200 events from concerts to workshops, ceilidhs and lectures. Upwards of 100,000 people attend, over the 18 days of the festival spread over about 10 venues in the city. Sinead O'Connor, The Dubliners, Billy Bragg and Bob Geldof have figured in the line-up in the past, and the event traditionally gives new artists an opportunity to make a name for themselves.
