Down on the toe of Italy, the small seaside town of Roccella Jonica is the scene of a big summer jazz festival, featuring Italian artists and many top international names. In addition to a great line-up of musicians, experimental theatre is also on the agenda, and artistic performances incorporating elements of literature and opera. It is an innovative programme that uses some unusual venues including a small arena in a rocky outcrop. Performances also take place in traditional theatres as well as a number of outdoor venues around the town.
