01 Nov 2009 - 08 Dec 2009

Internationally held in high regard, this festival was created to celebrate the art of film, developing an ever-increasing and enthusiastic audience of filmmakers and film-lovers over the years. For the vibrant city of Cork, it is one of the most important events in the social and cultural calendar. With screenings and associated lectures throughout the week, the programme is wide-ranging, an eclectic mix of big-budget movies, world cinema, innovative independent films, animation, documentaries, student projects and short films. In particular, the festival supports the short film, seeing it as art form as well as a route for young filmmakers to enter the industry, and provides lectures on favourite directors, new productions and developments.
