The Festa delle Sagre Astigiane sees the people of the historic city of Asti and surrounding villages celebrate their own rich culture by reverting to 'the true peasant life'. Neighbourhoods set out long tables decorated with colourful cloths and bright umbrellas to enjoy a feast of local specialities with family and friends. It is a joyful occasion and one in which visitors can also participate, because there are also many food and wine stands on the Campo del Palio and Piazza San Secondo. Because it falls in the same week as the Asti Palio, there is plenty of musical entertainment in the streets and spectacular processions in medieval costume.
