This traditional spring festival celebrates the revival of nature after the long, cold nights of winter. As legend has it, the Goddess Cybele, who represents the coming of spring, awakens the God Attis, who represents nature, from his slumber after being deadened by the chill of winter. The event dates back hundreds of years but the consumption of regional specialities and locally produced wines is still central to the modern day celebrations.
