Fete du Citron,

Menton, France

01 Feb 2011 - 31 Mar 2011 Date to be confirmed

Over its two-week duration, La Fete du Citron attracts an incredible 200,000 visitors who descend on the town of Menton to celebrate the joys of the humble citrus fruit. The highlight of the festival is the Parade of the Gold Fruits - spectacularly-intricate models including such things as windmills, castles and cartoon characters that have all been made from citrus fruits. There is a great family atmosphere with plenty of events for young and old alike, including a popular fireworks display. This fun festival dates back to the 1930s when it attracted well-heeled guests including a few celebrities and royals who came to enjoy the fun and the warm climate of Southern France.
