Always opening on the Friday evening following Thanksgiving with a spectacular parade, San Antonio's River Walk is bathed in light as the city's Christmas lights display is turned on. On the opening night visitors can enjoy an hour-long parade featuring live music, marching bands and costumed dancers; for those not lucky enough to get a ticket, the parade is also shown live on television. Using well over 100,000 individual lights, the display is a massive tourist attraction over the Christmas season that remains open to visitors until New Year's Day.
