Since 1995, Festimad has delivered a 48-hour helping of alternative and rock music each summer, in parkland at the city's fringes. In 2005 the event relocated to a much larger area near Fuenlabrada, 18km (11 miles) south of the centre, reflecting its growth in popularity. The Prodigy, Marilyn Manson, Metallica and the Black Crowes are among the bands who have performed here in the past and each year an impressive new array of talent is assembled. On-site facilities include bars, restaurants, a supermarket and camping facilities.
