The saint's days are cause for much celebration in Cyprus and each year St Paraskevi's Day is honoured at churches around the country. Each town and village celebrates it in their own particular way but there is usually a religious service held on the evening before the day and then another on the day itself. The town of Paphos goes one step further and combines the occasion with a traditional fair with performances, entertainment and traditional stalls selling food, drink and handicrafts.
