LGBT Pride Week - © Heritage of Pride

01 Jun 2010 - 30 Jun 2010 Date to be confirmed

New York City's gay, lesbian and transgender communities come together each year for a week-long party in commemoration of the Stonewall Riots of 1969. The week gets underway with a rally at Bryant Park from 42nd Street to 6th Avenue which sees the park fill with supporters, revellers and public speakers all with the same goal of raising public awareness about issues that effect the gay, lesbian and transgender communities. Other events during Pride Week include a Stonewall Sailing Regatta on the Hudson River, special theatre performances, public lectures and debates and plenty of parties and special club nights. The week comes to lively and flamboyant close on the final day with the Pride Parade which has a great celebratory feel and to which all are invited.
