19 Mar 2010

This popular festival dates back to the Middle Ages and is held in honour of St Joseph who saved Sicily from famine. Food, therefore, plays an important part of the day's proceedings and fried rice balls (known as 'fritelle') are on sale in the streets. Locally made toys are also popular gifts at this event. The festival is popular with families with young children.
