Swimmers are invited to participate in the annual Lee Swim across Cork's Lee River that runs through the heart of the city. Each year hundreds of swimmers compete in the event, which is separated into several different age categories. The banks are lined with spectators cheering on the competitors, most of whom are raising money for a chosen charity. After the swim, a number of social events help participants wind down.
