18 Mar 2010 - 23 Mar 2010

A ghoulish nine days in Britain's capital of spooks and spirits, Mary King's Ghost Fest aims to make spines tingle in the alleyways and crannies of Old Edinburgh. Some of the events are standard packages - a supernatural tour of the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, an evening on the Mercat Tours Ghost Hunter Trail and ghostly whisky tastings. But if the cold, clammy hand of fear fails to materialise there is the possibility of spending a night in a haunted vault, or seeing a creepy horror movie or attending an experiment in parapsychology. Also on offer are a thriller film quiz, scary storytelling sessions and a chance to join a paranormal investigation. The Festival Finale is a parade of some of Edinburgh's most famous dark characters from the past, as they walk the Royal Mile to Mercat Cross - once the place of Edinburgh's executions.
