The annual ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers) is the island's major sailing event which is eagerly anticipated by all those connected to the boating world. Setting sail from Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, over 150 yachts participate in the transatlantic race that ends in the beautiful Rodney Bay in St Lucia. The arduous passage takes anywhere between 12 and 24 days depending on the trade winds and the partying continues throughout as St Lucians get ready to welcome the boats.
