This broad-ranging event is one of the largest events of its kind in the country and includes a lively mix of in new theatre, music, dance, performance and literature, from both local and international artists. Taking place at various venues and locations throughout this vibrant city, the festival presents a three-week programme of events and activities. Since it was first held in 1967, the festival has featured performances by such legends as Lawrence Olivier, Anthony Hopkins and Yehudi Menuhin as well as appearances by contemporary authors such as Irvine Welsh and Chuck Palahniuk.
