Body surfing is defined as riding waves to shore without a surfboard. It sounds a bit like cycling without a bike, but the sport is gaining popularity worldwide, and has been a favourite pastime in these parts for years. Participants need to be thoroughly experienced in the idiosyncrasies of the sport and the sea, but it is a sociable event and a good one to just turn up and watch. Competitions take place in various age groups with different categories for men and women. Bodysurfers from around the world compete for trophies and prizes, and take part in body surfing discussions.
