Veterans' Day Ceremonies,

US war veterans are honoured on the 11 November, the day the First World War ended in 1918, at various war memorials in Washington DC. Ceremonies take place at the Arlington National Cemetery and African-American Civil War Memorial and at the Navy Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Usually attended by the US President and other politicians and dignitaries, the event is a sombre day of thanks and remembrance.
