Masala World Beat Festival,

Hanover, Germany

01 May 2010 - 01 Jul 2010 Date to be confirmed

There is more than a hint of carnival in the summer air as the vibrant rhythms of Masala World Beat Festival come to town. Music from Mali to Mexico and from Brazil to Bengal features on one of the most colourful and multi-cultural music programmes in Germany. Begun in 1995, previous festivals have featured Baaba Maal, the Afro Cuban All Stars, Gilberto Gil and Femi Kuti. The city becomes a melting pot of musical styles, ranging from jazz and tango rhythms through to funk and salsa. During the last weekend of the festival, there is an international market selling exotic food, as well as world music merchandise.
