Day of Accord and Reconciliation,

Moscow, Russian Federation

07 Nov 2010

The Day of Accord and Reconciliation marks the anniversary of the October Revolution which led to the downfall of the tsarist government in 1917. Civil War ravaged the country in the years that followed before the Soviet Union was formed in 1922. Formerly it was used as a day to show of its military might, but today the Day of Accord and Reconciliation tends to focus on the less-bloody aspects of its history and is a celebration and national holiday throughout Russia.
