Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race,

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is one of the most prestigious races in the world yachting calendar and attracts boats and crews from all over the world. Setting off on Boxing Day, the 2,000km (1,240 miles) race sees yachts race out from Sydney Harbour trying to make the fastest time to Hobart via the Tasman Sea, Storm Bay and the Derwent River. First held in 1945, the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is a huge post-Christmas tradition that always generates huge public and media interest.
