City to Surf,

Sydney, Australia

01 Aug 2010 - 31 Aug 2010 Date to be confirmed

Sydney's City to Surf run is one of the most famous and best-attended fun runs in the world that always attracts good support from locals and tourists. Runners set off from the start line close to Hyde Park in the heart of the city and race along a 14km (9 miles) course that takes in some of the city's leafy suburbs before ending along the strip at the world-famous Bondi Beach. The event was first held in 1971 with just 2,000 runners - of which only a handful were women; now there are usually as many women as men amongst the 60,000 competitors who take part each year. Many people are running to raise money for their chosen charity so expect plenty of fancy dress costumes, laughs and smiles along the way too.
