Kawhia Traditional Maori Food Festival,

Kawhia, New Zealand

05 Feb 2010 - 07 Feb 2010

'Kai' is the big attraction here - Maori cuisine, and plenty of it. A huge and tasty array of delicious, mouth-watering kai in both traditional and modern styles, from sea and land, is served up over a summer weekend in a seafront parkland setting. Visitors nibble to the accompaniment of stage shows, kapa haka, music and dance. A true cultural event, it attracts thousands of visitors to tiny Kawhia. The big crowds are also able to enjoy a Waka parade as well as many stalls selling a wide variety of crafts.
