The Day Night Thriller attracts mountain bikers, whether solo or part of a team, who come to compete in the popular event. This is one of the biggest MTB events in New Zealand, which each year attracts upwards of 3,000 competitors. Cyclists of all levels and technical ability can manage the specially designed 8km (5 miles) circuit, which includes fast, open park grounds, exhilarating downhill sections, forest tracks carpeted with pine needles, and tricky single tracks. The scenery is spectacular all the way, and includes the mighty Waikato River. A maximum 750 teams of 1-5 cyclists, plus 50 solo riders can take part, and each entrant receives a gift pack. Camping facilities are provided.
