Gold Rush Multisport Event,

Alexandra, New Zealand

20 Mar 2010 - 22 Mar 2010

The Goldrush is not for softies, as the 375km (234-mile) course follows the old trails opened up by early pioneers in their search for gold. The different sections are completed by kayak, mountain bike, road bike and running. The rugged, rocky landscapes of Central Otago and the majestic Clutha River comprise much of the course. The competition begins with a short run from Pioneer Park to the banks of the river, where kayaks are lined up ready and waiting. A section of flat water is followed by the more exciting stretch through the Roxburgh Gorge. Stage two is a mountain bike ride over the Knobby Range Road, then onto the Old Coach Road. A run from Little Valley to the Upper Manorburn follows - and that is all on Day One.
