14 Feb 2011

For anyone looking to do something a little different this Valentine's Day, an elephant-back wedding or renewal of wedding vows in Thailand could be just the thing. Each year on Valentine's Day, the National Elephant Institute in Lampang invites besotted couples to its centre for the official ceremonies which are carried out according to the traditional northern Thai or Lanna styles. Following the ancient practices, couples wishing to marry or renew their vows arrive at the traditional ceremony on the back of an ornately decorated elephant .
