Since it began in 1980 (as the Dublin International Organ & Choral Festival) this high calibre event has delivered an innovative and diverse programme of music-making with the organ as its focal point. The event makes full use of the wonderful range of organs in Dublin and also of the splendid cathedrals, churches and concert halls which house them. The festival features an organ-playing competition which attracts young virtuosi from every corner of the world. Masterclasses are given, and performances by celebrated international ensembles such as the Swingle Singers and the Mannheim Hochschule Kammerchor. In addition, Ireland's own premier ensembles feature, including the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, National Chamber Choir, RTE Philharmonic Choir and the three cathedral choirs of Dublin
