According to Chinese legend, the two stars Altair and Vega, normally separated by the Milky Way, are allowed to meet on the seventh night of the seventh month. It is a time to write down your secret wishes and tie them to a bamboo structure set up for the purpose, in the hope that you will meet your true love rather more frequently than poor Altair and Vega.
