01 Feb 2010 - 28 Feb 2010 Date to be confirmed

The headquarters for this event is not some frozen lakeside or desolate cabin community in the frozen wilds, but the more agreeable quarters of the Uptown Mall. Where else would you elect a Fur Queen and her Court? This, though, is no occasion for softies. The King Trapper competition really sorts the men from the boys, putting them through 21 testing challenges which include Pole Climbing, Pulp Cutting, Log Throwing, Rat Skinning, Trap Setting, Tea Boiling, Moose Calling, Goose Calling, Leg Wrestling, Flour Packing, Fish Filleting, Axe Throwing and a Buckskin Parade and Portage. Some events take place in temperatures some - 20 to - 30°C below freezing. After all that, contestants certainly deserve a break at Fort Whoop-It-Up. Another important element of the festival comprises the Musher's Briefing Banquet and the Musher's Wind-Up Banquet, with a dog sled race in between.
