Phimai Festival and Boat Race, 

Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand

Attracting thousands of spectators each year, the annual Phimai Festival and Boat Race in Nakhon Ratchasima is a wonderful spectacle. The highlight of the event is the traditional long-boat races which sees these magnificent boats compete in a race that has been taking place here every year for over 100 years. Other attractions include a sound and light show, a traditional arts and crafts fair, music, dance and other cultural performances.

Where?

Phimai Historical Park

Korat is the main gateway and is 260km (160 miles) from Bangkok. Phimai Historical Park is about 60km (35 miles) north of Korat and can be reached by bus or car

Getting There

Air: there are daily flights from Bangkok
Bus: there is a regular bus service from Bangkok to Korat every day
Rail: there are express and regular trains to Korat every day which take approximately 4–6 hours
