Lisbon Half Marathon,

The Lisbon Half Marathon has been run every year since 1990 and has now become a twice-yearly event, staged in March and September. It is eagerly watched by sporting enthusiasts who judge the form of runners taking part later in full marathons in Boston and London. The March course in Lisbon begins on the Tagus Bridge and continues through central Lisbon and the waterfront and ends at Jeronimos Monastery in Belem. The September event begins on the spectacular modern Vasco da Gama bridge, continuing along the eastern waterfront to the Parque das Nacoes. A maximum of 35,000 runners can participate and the course is lined with supporters.
