Billed as 'the Southern Hemisphere's biggest, brightest and most colourful garden event', the Ellerslie International Flower Show takes place each March in Christchurch at North Hagley Park. The show is attended by about 65,000 visitors from throughout New Zealand and the world. In 2010, two multi award-winning international designers - Chris Beardshaw from England and Koji Ninomiya from Japan - headline a stellar list of garden designers who will be creating almost 100 horticultural exhibits, including more than 30 display gardens.There is also a sculpture exhibition, floral art exhibits, plant stalls and plenty of experts on hand to offer tips to green-fingered enthusiastsOn the final Sunday of the event, the plants and building materials of the show ground are sold off so is a great place to get discounted goods.
