Passau Organ Night,

Passau, Germany

01 Jun 2011 - 30 Jul 2011 Date to be confirmed

It has 17,300 pipes and 231 separate registers: the organ in the Saint Stephen's Cathedral in Passau is the biggest in the world. The cathedral itself (The Dom) is enormous, crowning the highest point of Passau Old Town (Altstadt) between the Rivers Danube and Inn. The original Gothic building was rebuilt in Baroque style from 1668. As part of the town's European Music Festival, an entire night is dedicated to organ music when a relay of six organists plays in the Dom from dusk until dawn. Recent organists have included Jean Guillou (France), Michael Radulescu (Austria), Luigi Tagliavini (Italy), Beatrice-Maria and und Gerhard Weinberger (Germany), Lionel Rogg (Switzerland) and Ludwig Ruckdeschel (Germany).
