Played on the famous clay courts, the Estoril Open is one of the most popular international tennis tournaments in Portugal. Men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles competitions run simultaneously, with the qualifying rounds usually being played over the opening weekend. Games for the main draw begin on the first Monday of the tournament and continue via a knockout format throughout the week. The climax and always the most popular day of the tournament is the last Sunday on which the finals are played.
