Migas Festival (Fiesta de las Migas),

Torrox, Spain

Details to be confirmed

23 Dec 2009

Just before Christmas, what could be nicer than a bowl of Migas in festive surroundings? Migas is a traditional Andalucian peasant dish, consisting of breadcrumbs fried in olive oil with small pieces of mutton. They cook it in great cauldrons in the main square and offer it with a glass of local wine and a portion of 'ensaladilla', to residents and visitors alike. And it tastes delicious - the true flavour of Andalucia, given extra spice with the typical music and dancing which accompanies the event. What is more, Torrox claims to have the best climate in Europe.
