Launched in 1968 as the International Week of Fantasy and Horror Movies, the renamed Sitges International Film Festival today is a rendezvous for movie lovers and audiences interested in new trends and technologies in the film and audiovisual world. Widely recognised as the leading fantasy film festival, Sitges has welcomed movie stars, directors and producers of the stature of Quentin Tarantino, Anthony Hopkins, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Michelle Gellar, John Landis and Dino de Laurentis in previous years. Other films to have featured include 'Spider' by David Cronenberg, 'Red Dragon' by Brett Ratner and 'Zatoichi' by Takeshi Kitano. The festival also features retrospectives and the best of home grown Catalan cinema.

Getting There

Road: Sitges is 40km (25 miles) southwest of Barcelona by A18 motorway. There are regular bus and train services.
Foot: Once in Sitges, all venues are within easy walking distance of the town centre.
