Celebrated by Buddhists all over the world, the birthday of Lord Buddha is a great celebration that sees Hong Kong's Buddhist temples bursting with activity. Amongst the biggest celebrations in Hong Kong are those at Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island which is home to the largest, seated, outdoor bronze Buddha in the world. The monks at the monastery serve an almost constant supply of delicious vegetarian food to the numerous visitors who flock here for the Lord Buddha's birthday celebrations each year. Smaller but no less spectacular events take place at other Buddhist monasteries throughout Hong Kong.
