Nativity of the Virgin Mary

The Feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been celebrated since about AD900 and is still celebrated all over the world. Kykkos Monastery in the Troodos Mountains, the richest monastery in Cyprus, is dedicated to Mary and is the main venue for prayer and celebration on this day. A traditional fair with a market, stalls selling trinkets, music and lots of delicious food all adds to the attraction. more »
